Tag des Wassers - Day of Water

Post by Ralf1963 »

Hello from Berlin.

I'am going to visit Szczecinek again with my family on 5th of April.
After booking the hotel I had a look on the internet about "Easter in Poland" and i saw, on eastermonday the "Day of Water" will be celebrated and everyone could splash anyone with water on that day.
Help... I am not familiar with those kind of things... Does this really happen? Is it possible for a tourist family to walk around in the city of Szczecinek on Manday, 5th? or would we be wet after a few meters and should prefer to stay in the hotel all day?!

Danke / Thank You / Dziękuję

@Stach. Meine 19 jährige Tochter ist mit dabei.

@Drahim: Wir sind am 02.04 - 04.04.2010 in Gdansk

@Ziom: Juni? Vielleicht...

Yeah, we gotta that kind of tradition. That tradition is celebrated most by kids, they're splashing each other. Young boys prefer to make water-strikes on girls, sometimes kids also want to give a lesson of tradition to the elderly people who are not familiar with that tradition anymore (by making them wet). Sometimes even the police forces are involved into keeping 'peace'. If I were you I'd better stay at the hotel and watch the situation from your window. For ordinary people streets should more safety after midday.
